About the map
This map captures the full Coast to Coast route in physical 3D form, showing the changing terrain, valleys, ridges, high ground, coastline, and national parks crossed along the way.
The map includes embossed locations for Wainwright’s suggested stops, along with other popular stopping points now commonly used by walkers. The route itself is also embossed, allowing you to trace the journey by hand and relive the highs, the lows, and the miles in between.
Distances between key stops are shown around the internal border of the map for reference.
The map itself measures approximately:
61 x 16cm
The overall framed piece measures approximately:
71 x 26cm
This is a solid, substantial piece weighing approximately 2kg.
Finish options
There are three versions available:

Why the Coast to Coast?
Alfred Wainwright’s Coast to Coast walk is one of Britain’s classic long-distance routes. Crossing Northern England from the Irish Sea to the North Sea, it passes through some of the country’s finest landscapes, from the fells of the Lake District to the limestone country of the Yorkshire Dales and the open moorland of the North York Moors.
For many walkers, it is more than a route. It is a challenge, a memory, and a personal achievement.
This piece is designed as a lasting reminder of that journey — a physical 3D representation of the landscape crossed, the distance covered, and the memories made along the way.
It makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who has completed the Coast to Coast, is planning to walk it, or has a connection to Wainwright, long-distance walking, the Lake District, Yorkshire, Cumbria, the Dales, the North York Moors, or the outdoors.
How it’s made
Each map begins with accurate mapping data, which is processed using modern 3D terrain modelling techniques. From this, an original pattern is produced and a mould is made.
The maps are then cast by hand using a process known as cold casting, where resin is mixed with real metal powders to create a genuine metal-effect surface. Each casting is given an aged patina, polished by hand, mounted, framed, and carefully packed.
The sea areas are filled with coloured resin, giving the Coast to Coast theme a distinctive visual finish.
As each piece is handmade, slight variations in tone, patina, resin depth, and surface character are part of the process and make every map unique.
Hanging and display
This is a solid, substantial framed piece. Please make sure it is fixed to a suitable wall using appropriate fixings.
A single nail is not recommended. I advise using a secure hanging method suitable for the wall type and the weight of the piece.
The map is robust and tactile, but it should still be handled with care.
Care
The brass title plate can be lightly polished if required. Please take care not to get polish on the faux leather backing or surrounding mount.
