Mountain Castings creates solid, cold cast 3D topographical maps with a real metal finish, handmade in Cumbria.
Each piece begins with accurate terrain data and a highly detailed 3D printed master, but the finished map is not simply a 3D print. It is refined, moulded, and cold cast in resin with real bronze, copper, or aluminium powder, giving it the look and feel of a proper metal casting.
This process produces a smoother, stronger, more durable map than standard printed plastic, with no hollow shell, visible print layers, or risk of splitting. Every piece is solid, hand-finished, and made to last.
I can create maps of almost anywhere in the world — mountains, lakes, coastlines, islands, favourite walks, homes, or meaningful places — and frame them in-house ready to display.
Mountain Castings grew from a lifelong love of the Cumbrian mountains and a passion for 3D printing, combining landscape, technology, and craftsmanship into one unique object.
