The backing is made from Faux leather in a rich, textured grey that has a real quality feel to the touch and the eye. The exact shade of grey does vary depending on what batch is used vs the original photography but it is always of the same high quality.

The title plate is made from highly polished solid Brass with embossed lettering filled in black.

This item is also available without the lakes filled in blue and also unframed with or without blue lakes fill, these options are priced accordingly. If you wish to save some money why not buy it unframed to start and have it framed at a later date?. If you choose unframed the map will still be hangable as it will be provided fitted with hanging string.

Important information about this item:

It is hand-made to order, as such slight variations are possible from the photos particularly in the bronze finish. A lot depends on the Copper powder supplied and how the patina finish turns out. I aim for consistency at all times and will always work hard to ensure a beautiful finish is achieved in all my work. Rest assured, you will not be disappointed in this piece (read some of my reviews on Etsy).

It is a fairly heavy item at almost 3kg with it being a solid resing casting and as such you should ensure the wall you plan to hang on is suitable as well as the fixings used, I always advise that you should go overboard on the hanging method to ensure your map stays put for all time. To be clear, a single nail is not sufficient!.

If you ever wish to re-frame the piece then this is possible. I advise taking it to a professional framer however it can be done at home with care and suitable tools.

The brass plate would benefit a touch of Brasso occasionally but care should be taken not to get Brasso on the faux leather backing as this may adversely affect it.
