Topographical map of the Coast to Coast route across Northern England in Copper. The very first topographical representation of this timeless walk, an opportunity to relive your memories and achievements in a 3D form. This piece can be personalised.

The map features the embossed locations of both Wainwright's suggested stops and other now-popular stops along the way. The route is embossed for you to follow and relive the highs (and the lows) of your walk. You can trace your finger over the three National Parks - The Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, and the North Yorkshire Dales. The distances between stops have been noted on the internal frame of the piece for reference.

This piece can have a personalised etching added (select at checkout)- you can add dates, names, times, locations, or simply a few words of congratulations. The choice is yours. We recommend no more than 20 words but if you have a special requirement please do not hesitate to get in touch. You can also choose the position of the personalised etched plate. Supplied framed and ready to wall hang, the frame is a deep black colour - simple, yet elegant, so to draw the eyes into the piece itself. The mount is a rich grey faux leather material which when touched feels tactile and interesting.

The main title plaque is machined from solid brass and the lettering filled in black by hand, it is mounted centrally to the frame as shown unless you have requested special requirements for your plaque positions.

Both the North Sea and the Irish Sea have been filled with a shimmering blue resin which really makes the aspect of 'Coast to Coast' stand out on your wall.

This is a great conversation piece, it is hardy and so can be touched. It makes for a real head-turner on any wall.

When Alfred Wainwright invented England's now-classic 'Coast to Coast', which was published in 1973. His aim was to get people walking, his love was walking, his life. The route, which spans from West to East (or vice versa) across Northern England's most stunning scenery has become a right of passage for any lover of the Fells and Alfred Wainwright's legacy. Although many maps are available, this is the first and only Three Dimensional representation.

The map itself measures 61 x 16 CM and the frame overall is 71 x 26 CM.

Important information about this item:

It is hand-made to order, as such slight variations are possible from the photos particularly in the bronze finish. A lot depends on the Bronze powder supplied and how the patina finish turns out. I aim for consistency at all times and will always work hard to ensure a beautiful finish is achieved in all my work. Rest assured, you will not be disappointed in this piece (read some of my reviews on Etsy).

It is a fairly heavy item at approx 2kg with it being a solid resing casting and as such you should ensure the wall you plan to hang on is suitable as well as the fixings used, I always advise that you should go overboard on the hanging method to ensure your map stays put for all time. To be clear, a single nail is not sufficient!.

If you ever wish to re-frame the piece then this is possible. I advise taking it to a professional framer however it can be done at home with care and sufficient experience.

The brass plate would benefit a touch of Brasso occasionally but care should be taken not to get Brasso on the faux leather backing as this may adversely affect it.
