Made using real terrain data, this is an accurate scale relief model of the Matterhorn in Switzerland. The map is cast by hand in an aged silver metal finish, mounted on white faux leather, and finished with an engraved wooden title plate fixed with solid brass screws.

About the map

The Matterhorn sits centrally within the map, allowing its distinctive pyramid-like summit, steep ridges, dramatic faces, and surrounding alpine terrain to be displayed in fine detail.

The 3D map itself measures approximately 15 x 15cm.

How it’s made

Each map begins with accurate mapping data, which is processed using modern 3D terrain modelling techniques. From this, an original pattern is produced and a mould is made.

The maps are then cast by hand using a process known as cold casting, where resin is mixed with real metal powders to create a genuine metal-effect surface. Each casting is given an aged patina, polished by hand, mounted, framed, and carefully packed.
