Great Gable 3D Topographical Map, Framed, Aged Metal Finishes

A beautifully detailed physical 3D topographical map of Great Gable, supplied professionally framed and ready to hang on the wall or display freestanding.

Made using real terrain data, this is an accurate scale relief model of Great Gable in the English Lake District, Cumbria. The map is cast by hand in an aged silver metal finish, mounted on white faux leather, and finished with an engraved wooden title plate fixed with solid brass screws.

About the map

The area captured is shown at a scale of 1:15,165, allowing the distinctive terrain of Great Gable and the surrounding western Lake District fells to be displayed in fine detail.

The 3D map itself measures approximately 15 x 15cm.
The frame is a high-quality black wood-effect frame.

Why Great Gable?

Great Gable is one of the Lake District’s most recognisable and imposing fells. Located in the western Lake District, it is a favourite among walkers and is commonly approached from Wasdale, Honister, and the surrounding high passes.

Alfred Wainwright described Great Gable as “the undisputed lord of the group of hills to which it belongs”, a fitting description for one of the most dramatic mountains in the Lakes.

How it’s made

Each map begins with accurate mapping data, which is processed using modern 3D terrain modelling techniques. From this, an original pattern is produced and a mould is made.

The maps are then cast by hand using a process known as cold casting, where resin is mixed with real metal powders to create a genuine metal-effect surface. Each casting is given an aged patina, polished by hand, mounted, framed, and carefully packed.
